Privacy Policy for Bike Display
Last updated: August 14, 2026
Bike Display ("we", "our", or "the App") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Bike Display mobile application.
1. Overview
Bike Display is a cycling companion application designed to display cycling and activity information received from compatible devices, including supported Garmin devices.
The App is designed to process cycling and device data primarily on your device. We do not operate a user account system and, unless explicitly stated otherwise in this Privacy Policy, we do not collect or store your personal cycling or activity data on our servers.
2. Information Processed by the App
Depending on the features you use and your connected device, Bike Display may process information such as:
- speed and maximum speed;
- distance;
- elapsed time and activity duration;
- heart rate;
- cadence;
- power;
- elevation, ascent and descent;
- stamina or similar activity metrics when provided by a compatible device;
- navigation or route-related information when made available by a compatible device;
- battery and connection status;
- other cycling, fitness, sensor, or activity information transmitted by a connected device.
This information is used to provide the App's functionality and display relevant cycling information to you.
Unless a feature explicitly states otherwise, this data is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to servers operated by us.
3. Connected Devices and Bluetooth
Bike Display may communicate with compatible devices using technologies or services such as Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, Garmin Connect IQ, or other device communication mechanisms.
The App may request permissions necessary to discover, connect to, and communicate with nearby devices.
Information exchanged with a connected device is used to provide the functionality requested by the user.
4. Location Permissions
Depending on your Android version, device, and the communication technology used, Android may require location-related or nearby-device permissions for Bluetooth device discovery or connectivity.
If Bike Display requests such permission, it is used only where necessary to enable the relevant functionality.
Bike Display does not sell location information.
If precise location information is processed as part of a cycling, navigation, or device feature, it is used to provide that feature and is not stored on our servers unless explicitly disclosed to the user.
5. Personal Data
Bike Display does not require you to create an account.
We do not intentionally collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or postal address through the core functionality of the App.
If you contact us directly, for example by email, we may receive your email address and any information you voluntarily provide. Such information will be used only to respond to your request, provide support, or address issues related to the App.
6. Data Storage and Transmission
Activity and device information processed by Bike Display is generally handled locally on your device or exchanged directly between your mobile device and a compatible connected device.
We do not operate a cloud service for storing users' cycling activity data unless a future feature explicitly informs you otherwise.
Data may also be processed by your device manufacturer, operating system provider, Garmin, or other services you choose to use. Their handling of information is governed by their respective privacy policies.
7. Third-Party Services
Bike Display may rely on third-party platforms, libraries, APIs, or services necessary for application distribution, device communication, diagnostics, or functionality.
These may include services provided by:
- Google and Android;
- Garmin and Garmin Connect IQ;
- device manufacturers or operating-system providers.
These third parties may process information independently according to their own privacy policies and terms.
Bike Display is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Garmin Ltd. Garmin and related trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
8. Analytics, Diagnostics and Crash Information
The App may receive technical diagnostic information provided by application distribution platforms or operating systems, such as crash reports, device type, Android version, App version, and general technical information required to identify and resolve errors.
Where such information is made available to us, it is used for application maintenance, troubleshooting, security, and improving reliability.
We do not use cycling or fitness information processed by the App for advertising purposes.
9. Advertising
Bike Display does not use your cycling, fitness, health, location, or connected-device information for targeted advertising.
If advertising or additional third-party services are introduced in a future version of the App, this Privacy Policy will be updated as necessary.
10. Sale of Personal Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information or cycling/activity data to third parties.
11. Data Retention
Because the core cycling and device information is primarily processed locally, we generally do not retain this information on our servers.
Information voluntarily provided when contacting us may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, maintain support records, comply with legal obligations, or protect our legitimate interests.
12. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to design and operate the App in a way that protects user information.
However, no software, electronic communication, or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
13. Children's Privacy
Bike Display is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the core functionality of the App. If we become aware that personal information from a child has been collected inappropriately, we will take reasonable steps to address the situation.
14. Your Choices and Rights
You can control permissions granted to Bike Display through your Android device settings.
Depending on applicable law and the circumstances, you may also have rights relating to personal information that we hold about you, including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection.
Because most activity information used by Bike Display is processed locally and is not stored by us, we may not possess data that can be retrieved or deleted from our systems.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, its functionality, applicable legal requirements, or third-party services change.
The latest version will be published at the Privacy Policy URL associated with the App. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
